Closed Eyes at Sunrise, the second full length album from Over the Coals was released on July 1st, 2008. The album was recorded in part at the Warehouse as well as at the Coalmine in Vancouver, BC. It was produced by Chris 'Hollywood' Holmes and Over the Coals, engineered, mixed and mastered by Chris 'Hollywood' Holmes.

Songs on the album range from flat out arena style rockers to intricate metal head bangers and features a variety of material written as far back as 2005, coupled with songs that were only completed mere days before tracking began. Songs range from the raucous 'Clean Slate' through the unrelenting 'Bombs Away' as well as the hard hitting title track, through the snaking 'Shadows' to more mellow rock renditions 'We Fall Behind' and 'Look to the North'. This album also marks the first instrumental effort by the group, as heard on the eerie 'Intermission'. The song 'Change' is also semi instrumental and explores a new side of OTC.
